About this site

this site is still "under construction" - it is entirely text based at the moment for speed of loading-

The idea is simple...to be a useful resource for those seeking information on the history of television.
The domain name TvHistory.co.uk was still available and like a fool I thought I would buy it, without really knowing what to do with it. I suppose if I am honest I thought it might have a value to someone somewhere, but with the new top level domains coming up soon there are more possibilities opening up.

However after being sent a somewhat irate e-mail from someone who surfed to the site expecting to find information for their research I now feel honour bound to provide something for the casual surfer. So I have started to put this together. I have quickly noticed that like many subjects on the web, there is too much stuff sitting around in too many personal homepages and obscure sites - yes OK that's half the fun but there is no one quick access site. So slowly I am searching out sites and adding them, using my discretion about which ones to include. Now I am not pretending for a moment that you have found the definitive site but if I can help a little then I am happy.

I work for the BBC myself and so have quite a bit of inside knowledge but the site is not connected in any other way to the BBC

Technical stuff

This site has been created using Dreamweaver 3.0 on an Apple iMac 266 (Tangerine!) running on Mac OS 8.6
It is best viewed using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 and up. It works OK on Netscape.
The site is hosted by Freeserve and the domain name is hosted by Easily.co.uk who sell Domain names.
